Berserkr Nightmare

Berserkr Nightmare is a new sect of Berserkr for hardcore experienced players. It has a “darker” feel to it (you’re all gonna die). It is highly recommended you do not play Nightmare unless you’ve reached at least level 10 with a Berserkr character. Those of you who have played the game Diablo (© Blizzard Entertainment) are familiar with the concept of “Nightmare” added into a normal game already, it’s basically a normal game infused with pure evil for flavour.

Rules Differences:

~Start with 40 xp (level 4)

~3 death limit

~not everything will have to make as much sense as in the orderly standard campaign

~for all purposes, this game should be considered rated at least PG-13

~Spirit Restores don’t heal Death damage and heal less XP damage

~You will die

~Things will be badass beyond logic (expect normal wolves to have over 60 hp swinging 12s and innate magical abilities for example)

~standard Berserkr characters cannot be used here, different characters must be created

~you are expected to know the rules well, in addition to the slang/terminology

~the following races are considered rare; extinct: Satyr, Elf, most Fae; Pixie, Nixie  

Setting:

The in-game area will be around the city/fort (more of an outpost really) of Ulf Haven, one of the few civilized townships in the wilderness of the Norway of Nightmare Berserkr. This will be the only town adventurers will be at unlike Berserkr’s multitude of towns. There will be modules and other things that take the PCs out of Ulf Haven, but all games will start in the city or nearby. Consider it on the map in about the same place as Tanias City, and consider the Berserkr cities non existent. The year is the same, this is considered an alternate reality. Ulf Haven follows the following laws as per typical definition (punishment of death): Murder, Theft, and Necromancy on the unwilling. Nightmare has a separate section of the message boards.

Plotline:

The demon creature known as Nightmare has cursed the land into eternal doom and assaults the town both by making normal creatures hideously powerful and sending his own minions. It has been like this for 60 years and no heroes have ever defeated, nary even harmed the abomination. The world has dipped into a state of survival tactics and slim living.
