ADLOCVTIO
NEWSLETTER OF THE TWENTIETH LEGION

Vol. XXI, no. v-vi, May-June 2011

Mea culpa for the combined May and June issue--I can't promise that it won't happen again.

ROMAN DAYS!

Enormous Thanks to Chief Organizer Deb Fuller and EVERYone else who worked so hard to make Roman Days a success again this year!  I hope everyone had as good a time as I had.  There's a nice little review of the event here: http://riverdalepark.patch.com/articles/riversdale-house-museum-goes-roman-for-the-weekend

LUPERCALIA!

Enormous Thanks to Richard and Allison for a most excellent Party!  It was great to see everyone there.  And holy smokes, did we EAT…

FOREIGN LANGUAGE ACADEMY

On Saturday July 2 the Legion will appear at Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA, for the Latin students of the Governor's Foreign Language Academy.  We will be performing  from 1 PM to 4 PM, and the audience is expected to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic.  A few of our allies from Legio IX plan to join us.  I'll send around more details and directions when I get them, but please let me know if you hope to attend.

SEPTEMBER EVENTS

We have invitations to 2 successive events in September: VA Scottish Games on the 3rd and 4th, and Hartwood Days on the 10th.   We've done both of them in the past couple years, and we can certainly do both this year if folks are up for them!   Tell me your thoughts.

VJCL

Here's one we should put some effort into, the Virginia Junior Classical League convention in Richmond, VA on November 20-21 (Sunday and Monday).  Our hosts will be reimbursing us for travel, hotel, and food expenses!  Plus it's an indoor event with 1700 Latin and Classics students, and we will be "keynote speakers".  We will most likely be discussing this further on the Roman Days list, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/romandays/
