[Dream Gate] [Poet Glas]

For Laura, on Homework

I cannot say that magic truly cares,
Nor that well-crafted words can bend the world.
Fair Earth shall spin however my friend fares -
But if I could, I'd see this flag unfurled:
"Good luck! Fare well on your path!" If I could ease
Your studies I would try. Some call it magic
When in our words we cast a wish and freeze
This hope for change. Perhaps I'm being tragic
Or even trite. I do not care, in fact,
As long as lovely unicorns should see
That in their homework I would help (no tact
For me) -by wishing well to them from me.
So here's for you my wish that on this night,
You find your way in study free and light.
